Quotable

“People who are homeless aren’t just statistics. They are real people… These individuals live throughout the County of Los Angeles. We have an urgent and moral obligation to them. We cannot combat homelessness alone. The only way we will have any impact is if we work together.”
– Board Chair Hilda L. Solis

“I know a little bit about how you can go from your everyday life and just find yourself homeless. That’s why this Initaitive is very important to me… This Plan is required.”
– Mayor Robert Miles, City of Lawndale

“Homelessness is a crisis in Los Angeles, and LAHSA applauds the vision of our City and County elected leadership in adopting these comprehensive strategies to address that crisis.”
Peter Lynn, executive director, LAHSA

“The aligned collaboration between the City and County of Los Angeles is a historical first step in addressing homelessness. We hope the momentum continues as we look to our leaders to execute on these plans, which not only reinforce United Way’s mission to end poverty but also match the extraordinary public interest in resolving this critical issue”
– Elise Buik, CEO and president, United Way of Greater Los Angeles

“I became very appreciative of… an authentic community input process in which community providers, consumers that have been affected by the fragmentation within our county and other stakeholders had an opportunity to weigh in…I can truly say that I felt heard.
– Veronica Lewis, Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care (HOPICS)

The plan before you moves us in the right direction, and it is the result of many, many hours, meetings and tough conversations, [the Plan]… hears the voices of the people that are on the streets and those who do the work every day… I can’t wait to see the implementation.”
– Va Lecia Adams, executive director, St Joseph Center
